CDM claims Battle of the Bay with 17-1 win
Ty Caffarelli and Ben Holton lead the Kings into the Cage prior to defeating NHHS 17-1
"This is always a fun game for the kids," commented CDM coach G.W. Mix. "Many of the players on both teams grew up together playing in our Surf Dawg program (a local youth program Coach Mix established in 2004). It's great to look out there and see these kids competing against each other in high school. I remember teaching so many of them how to catch and throw and respect the game when they were just Pups. It was a real Dawg Party out there."
CDM jumped out to a convincing 10-1 lead at halftime and cruised to a 17-1 victory. Junior attackman Ty Caffarelli led all Sea King scorers with 6 goals. Fellow classmate and attackman Nic Peloso tallied two goals and two assists before departing for a family reunion at halftime. "I felt badly for Nic," Mix added. "He had to leave to attend a family event that was scheduled prior to us being asked by the officials organization to move the game from Friday to Saturday. He was having a great day."
With the win, CDM improves its overall record to 7-3. The Sea Kings are now 15-1 in Battle of the Bay games since boys lacrosse became a CIF sanctioned sport in 2007. Coach Mix improves his career record against Newport Harbor to 12-1 (.923%).

Up next for CDM is a date with Yorba Linda, ranked 6th in the Southern Section, at Yorba Linda on Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM.
