CDM defeats Irvine 21-2
Taylor Epp (Jr./Midfield) & Dave Detrick (Sr./Midfield) dominated face-offs, winning 21 of 28 draws
Taylor Epp (Jr./Midfield) led the Sea Kings to another win in Pacific Coast League play. This time, a dominant win over visiting Irvine 21-2. Epp and fellow face-off specialist Dave Detrick (Sr./Midfield) won 21 of 28 draws, giving CDM the majority of the possessions throughout the game. Epp chipped in 3 goals and Detrick added 2 goals and an assist. With the win, the KIngs improve their record to 11-1, 8-0 in Pacific Coast League play and clinch at least a share of their fourth straight PCL title.
The youthful attack of Hunter Molnar (Jr./Attack), Jack Ortlieb (So./Attack) and Casey Mix (So./Attack) combined for 8 goals and 8 assists in the first half. Connor Cruse (Jr./Midfield) netted his first two goals of the season. He was joined in the scroring department by Michael Keasey (Jr./Midfield) with 2 goals, Connor Canale (Jr./Midfield) with 2 goals and 3 assists, Chris Von Der Ahe (So./Midfield) with 1 goal and 2 assists, and Chase McElroy (So./Midfield with a goal.
The Sea Kings began substituting early in the first half, but the scoring and solid defensive play continued allowing CDM to score 18 unanswered goals.
"We got solid play out of a lot of people," said CDM head coach G.W. Mix. "Despite the changes we made early on, I was pleased with the level of play throughout the game. Guys like Dave Detrick (Sr. Midfield), Bryce Ashton (Sr./Midfield), Cameron Moattari (Sr./Defense) and Cole Vance (Sr./Defense) did a great job for us today."
Next up for the Kings is OC rival Foothill, Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 PM at Foothill High School.
