Kings Fall To Broncos 11-3

Junior midfielder Connor Cruse and his CDM teammates fell to Rancho Bernardo 11-3
There was nothing "good" about this Friday for the Sea King lacrosse program. CDM traveled to Rancho Bernardo to play one of the top teams in San Diego and the state. The Broncos' experience, speed and athleticism seemed to be the difference, as they defeated CDM 11-3 in the non-league match-up.

"They were terrific and we were not," said Coach Mix shortly after his Sea Kings dropped only their third game of the season. "With our non-league games, we try to play the best possible teams we can and we certainly achieved our goal tonight. They were big, strong, fast, talented and well-coached."

The Broncos jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, leading 7-1 at the half, and eventually ousting the Kings 11-3. The second half, however, was somewhat of a bright spot for CDM. They allowed just 4 goals and scored a pair in a much better showing.

"While this game may not feel too good right now, we will learn from it, and it will make us better in the long run," added Mix. "That is clearly one of the most talented teams we have played in my five years of involvement in the lacrosse program at CDM. In practice, we try to teach the kids about the dangers of turnovers and mistakes and how good teams will make you pay for them. I think the Broncos and the Sea Kings are all square after this one. We paid handsomely for every mistake we made."

Michael Keasey (Jr./Midfield), Connor Gaal (Jr./Midfield), and Hunter Molnar (Jr./Attack) each contributed a goal to the Sea Kings scoring total.

Next up for CDM is a Pacific Coast League game against University on Monday, 4/25 at 4:45 PM at University High School. With a win, the Sea Kings (11-3 / 8-0 in the PCL) can clinch a fourth consecutive PCL Championship.
