Sea Kings continue to roll in Pacific Coast League
CDM continues its roll through the Pacific Coast League, defeating Northwood 12-2
Despite not having much time to recover from Saturday's game in monsoon-like conditions, both the field and the Sea Kings were ready to play this afternoon when Northwood arrived on campus.
Michael Keasey (Sr/Midfield), Casey Mix (Jr/Attack) and Jack Ortlieb (Jr/Attack) combined for eight of CDM's first nine goals to lead the Sea King's (5-0 / 4-0) to a 12-2 victory over the Timberwolves.
"That was a much improved Northwood team," CDM head coach Mix offered after the game. "They are athletic and play very hard. It's meaningful to see progress like that being made in our league and other areas of Orange County."
"I thought Taylor Epp did another great job of enabling us to contol possessions and tempo. Good offense and patience allowed us to really dominate the time of possession today."
Senior midfielders Connor Canale and Jack Gorab each added a goal and an assist. Jay Damon (So/Midfield) and Sherwin Gersten (Fr/Midfield) had a goal apiece, while freshman attackman Ben Palitz notched an assist.
After building a commanding and unthreatened, 8-0 first half lead, Mix was able to give everyone in uniform a chance to play in the second half. With the starters on the sidelines, the Sea Kings were able to increase the lead to ten goals, outscoring Northwood 4-2 in the final two periods.
"It was nice to be able to get everyone an opportunity to compete. Our kids work hard, so its always nice when they get a chance to match up and play."
