Record number of alumni players & families return
The 2012 CDM Lacrosse Turkey Shoot was a great afternoon of lacrosse for all in attendance
The third annual CDM Lacrosse Turkey Shoot Alumni Game attracted a record number of alumni participants and a crowd of more than 200 family and friends of the program.
"It was really exciting to see so much support for our program," commented head coach G.W. Mix. "This is a very special day for us, and we are grateful so many former players and their families came out to join us."
The game began at 1:00 PM and featured the Alumni team against a group of current CDM players, excepting those currently participating in other sports.
"There is some pretty good talent out there, and each year, it seems to get better. This is a good test for our younger players and an effectivel way for the coaches to evaluate some of our guys against quality competition. I thought we did fairly well today despite not having a number of our returning guys available to play."
Sophomores Hoyt Crance (Goalie), Hugh Crance (Defense), and Brett Greenlee (Defense) are all three likely to be key contributors in 2013, but are still involved in CIF football playoffs. Several top returning midfielders including Jay Damon (Junior), Jack Gail (Senior), Daniel McCabe (Junior), Ryon Sabouni (Senior) and Chris Von Der Ahe (Senior) are playing soccer for the Sea Kings, while Kaden Ebbinga (Junior) is currently wrestling.
"In addition to the guys we know about from last year's team, there are a still a number of freshmen, a few transfer players, and the traditional group of outstanding football players who plan to give lacrosse a try who are all still involved in the CIF football playoffs. We are really anxious to get that group out here with us as well."
The 2012 CDM Lacrosse Turkey Shoot welcomed back 28 former Sea Kings including: Blake Burkhart ('10), Matt Burt ('12), Connor Canale ('12), Connor Cruse ('12), Donald Dalton ('11), Taylor Epp ('12), Erik Fisher ('12), Nolan Johnson ('12), Austin Jones ('11), Michael Keasey ('12), Aaron Khosh ('12), Tyler Meskin ('10), Ryan Mix ('10), Hunter Molnar ('12), Noah Molnar ('09), Andreé Mujarro-Busto ('11), Randall Nelson ('10), Andrew Noto ('09), Daniel Noto ('10), Michael Ortlieb ('12), Connor Pinkston ('08), John Prickett ('11), Austin Ray (('07), Hugh Russell ('10), Dylan Salisbury ('11), Kyle Sherburne ('12), Reid Wallace ('10) and Doug Watt ('10).
More than 30% of the alumni who participated in the event are still playing collegiate lacrosse:
